 Providing stories and books for children

This 501(c)(3) organization was founded to promote literacy in young children, especially children between the ages of 2 through 8, who might not have books at home.  Read A Story believes that reading to a child and giving the book to take home encourages future reading and a love of books.   

Read A Story's Goals for 2010:

Reading stories and giving out new picture books to young children.  We hope to visit twenty classes in 2010 and also participate in community events. 

• Preschools
• Kindergarten and 1st grades
• Community events

Also giving out reading tips to parents and picture books to new mothers to read to their children. 

 
 

A young boy looks at a picture book that was previously read by a Read A Story volunteer.  Since he is familiar with the story, he can look at it by himself or share the book with his family.
